Nutritionist Sadigova: regular sound sleep for more than six hours can have a weight loss effect

Dietitian Shafag Sadigova: long, quality sleep at night promotes the loss of belly fat and overall weight loss.

Doctor Sadigova stated in an interview: weight a person and how he sleeps at night are closely related.

“To lose weight, sometimes it’s enough just to normalize your sleep,” the doctor told Gazeta.Ru.
The specialist noted that the quality of night sleep has a serious impact on the production of hormones in the body. In turn, the ratio of different hormones affects the mechanisms of appetite and hunger, the metabolism of glucose and fats. For example, systematic lack of sleep leads to an imbalance of two hormones, leptin and ghrelin, which results in increased appetite and the inability to feel full with normal amounts of food.

Good sleep, on the contrary, helps normalize the processes of hormone production and metabolism , protecting against excess fat deposition. Nutritionist Sadigova noted that regular, sound sleep for more than six hours can have a weight loss effect.

“Sleep deficiency, where a person sleeps less than six hours, increases the risk of developing obesity and type 2 diabetes. It has also been proven that a lack of sleep can lead to disruption of glucose metabolism, thereby indirectly affecting the development of diabetes mellitus,” explained the endocrinologist.
To improve the quality of night’s sleep, the doctor advised keeping the sleeping area clean and comfortable, and thoroughly ventilating it and cover from light penetration.
