Feeling unwell after fatty foods: Doctor Ivanova warns of the risk of bile stagnation

abdominal pain
Gastroenterologist Irina Ivanova spoke about the features of such a dangerous disorder as bile stasis.

People who feel unwell after eating fatty foods may suffer from bile stasis, said doctor Ivanova in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru. The doctor noted that this problem also causes problems with the functioning of the intestinal tract and worsens appearance.

“Bile determines intestinal motility, so bile stagnation manifests itself as constipation, and the discharge of accumulated thick bile causes diarrhea. It is also possible that the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins is impaired. In this case, dry skin and mucous membranes, eyes, and deterioration of vision in the twilight develop. Eating foods that actively reduce bile (broth, eggs, chocolate, pastries, cocoa) can cause discomfort: nausea, bloating, pain in the right hypochondrium,” the gastroenterologist shared.
The doctor explained that feeling unwell after fatty foods is associated with the discharge of thick accumulated bile, which became such due to a violation of its outflow. As a result, inflammation occurs, covering most of the gastrointestinal tract, and its symptoms are discomfort, pain, weakness, intoxication, and sometimes fever.

Ivanova emphasized that even if you feel worse after eating fatty foods, you still shouldn't give up fats – otherwise, the outflow of bile will worsen even more.

“You can't give up fats: without them, there will be no bile. An adult man needs about four, and a woman – three tablespoons during the day. It is better to choose ghee, butter and unrefined vegetable oils. There should be twice as many vegetable oils in the diet as animal oils,” the expert summarized.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that the wrong choice of foods for breakfast ruins the pancreas.
