Coloproctologist Anastasia Travnikova notes that in recent years Russians have become ill with colorectal cancer more often.

“Over the past decade, colorectal cancer has risen to the leading position in terms of frequency of occurrence in Russia and the world: it accounts for more than 10% of diagnoses in the overall structure of oncological diseases,” Travnikova said in an interview with Izvestia.

The doctor explained: speaking of colorectal cancer, oncologists mean malignant tumors that occur in the large intestine and rectum. Explaining how this type of cancer can manifest itself, the specialist warned: like other oncological diseases, colorectal cancer can be asymptomatic for a long time, or its signs are so “blurred”, non-specific, that they do not cause alertness.
