Therapist Alexey Khukhrev: with some health problems, scratching mosquito bites can be especially dangerous due to the risk of consequences.

Doctor Khukhrev noted in a commentary for Sputnik radio that mosquitoes prefer to attack people with the first positive blood group – they are especially often subject to mosquito bites. The specialist drew attention to the fact that it is important not to scratch the sites of such bites. First of all, the doctor urged not to touch these inflamed areas with dirty hands.

Alexey Khukhrev explained for whom it is especially dangerous to scratch mosquito bites on the skin.

“Under no circumstances should you scratch the site of a mosquito bite, especially with dirty hands. In some chronic diseases this is fraught with serious consequences,” the therapist stated.
The doctor warned that scratching mosquito-bitten skin could introduce streptococcus into the body. The infection caused by it will not go away on its own; antibiotics will have to be used for treatment. Khukhrev added that scratching the site of a mosquito bite (especially with dirty hands) can cause inflammation and many associated unfavorable pathological conditions.

For example, the body may have a difficult reaction to a streptococcal infection if you have diabetes.

To relieve itching and inflammation from mosquito bites, the doctor advised the use of antihistamines, and sealing the resulting wounds with a bactericidal plaster. If the body's reaction to such bites turns out to be too strong, you should seek medical help.
