Back pain is a common problem, but such a symptom can manifest itself as pathologies of the spine (for example, intervertebral hernia or protrusion) and kidney disease. Doctor Burnatskaya told RIAMO what back pain can be like with problems with the kidneys and spine.

Problems with the spine. The doctor noted that in their case, the pain syndrome most often occurs due to intense, excessive or prolonged physical activity, or after being forced to stay in one position.

“With such back pain, you can feel a specific trigger point, when you press it you feel a sharp pain,” clarified Svetlana Burnatskaya.
The doctor added that such back pain can occur both when a hernia of the spine occurs, and when the spinal muscles are sprained, rheumatism, radiculitis.

Kidney problems. Pain caused by kidney pathologies , is usually accompanied by a rise in body temperature, and it can be either subfibril or high. In addition, the person has a fever, his urination changes (it can be either very frequent or extremely rare), and the color of the urine also changes. Swelling of the eyelids is often observed.

“Pain due to kidney pathologies can radiate to the groin and iliac region. Pain from the spine radiates to the area of ​​the chest, ribs, and lower extremities,” the specialist indicated.
Burnatskaya warned that back pain can also manifest itself as oncological diseases, so if it occurs, there is no need to engage in self-diagnosis and self-medication. The cause of the pain syndrome should always be determined by a doctor.
