How long daytime sleep should last, neuropsychologist Svetlana Shishkova explained in an interview.

The specialist said that daytime sleep helps to improve health, and also reduces the risk of vascular accidents.

“Daytime sleep helps to restore strength, increase productivity and concentration. Thanks to such rest, the level of stress hormones decreases, which reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes,” Svetlana Shishkova informed.
At the same time, the specialist emphasized that daytime sleep should not be long.

“It is important not to exceed the duration of daytime sleep – experts recommend sleeping from 10 to 20 minutes,” Shishkova specified. The rest of the time (except at night) sleep is not recommended.

The expert explained that with a longer rest, a deep phase of sleep occurs. If a person is awakened during this period, he will feel not rested, but “broken”. Daytime sleep that lasts more than two hours can cause insomnia at night.

Daytime sleep prevents accidents

In an interview with aif.ru, the neuropsychologist added that the opportunity to sleep during the day, of course, is not available to everyone. But it is important for adult working people to take breaks for rest in order to help the body cope with stress without experiencing overload. To do this, it is useful to be in a calm, quiet environment for up to 20 minutes, relaxing and closing your eyes. at least walk a little.
