Dermatologist Explains Why You Shouldn't Squeeze Pimples

acne on the face
Dermatologist Maria Zhuravleva told why it is impossible to crush acne and what consequences such “cleansing” is fraught with.

About what to crush acne is impossible, everyone knows in theory, but almost no one applies this knowledge in practice.

“A pimple is a cavity filled with pus at the exit from the mouth of the hair follicle. It has a bottom, a tire and an underlying inflammatory infiltrate. The visible part of the pimple is only 1/3, while the remaining 2/3 are not visible to us,” the doctor explains. But only the tip of the purulent “iceberg” comes out at this moment.

The rest of the pimple goes back into the follicle! At this moment, the walls of the follicle stretch, that is, from a small pimple, we make it deeper and larger with our own hands.

It will now be much more difficult to get it to the surface. The healing and disappearance of the pimple in this case will be delayed for about a week. But this is the best case. And with the worst outcome, the follicle may burst in general, forming several new pimples nearby at once.

It is especially risky to squeeze pimples in the area of the nasolabial triangle.

“The vessels passing here are sent to the sinuses of the brain. Pus from an unsuccessfully squeezed pimple, once in the bloodstream, can cause severe inflammation.” Maria Zhuravleva Maria Zhuravleva Beauty Dermatologist
