What two tests need to be taken to understand the real causes of constant fatigue

girl
Therapist Philip Kuzmenko told what diseases are manifested with such a symptom as constant fatigue, and what two tests will help to figure out if the patient has these diseases.

Most often, fatigue indicates overwork or exhaustion of vitality. As a rule, after a full sleep or a longer rest, this condition disappears, and strength returns.

If the breakdown lasts more than two weeks, if there is no improvement after rest, then you should consult a doctor. Most likely, this is due to one of two reasons, and the first is related to the psyche.

“The second reason is the physical breakdown of the body, when fatigue is a symptom of another illness lying under the surface,” Kuzmenko said in his blog.
Many diseases lead to a lack of strength, but most often we are talking about anemia and hypothyroidism.

– With a pronounced lack of hemoglobin – with anemia – the body lacks oxygen and, therefore, the energy saving mode is turned on, – the therapist explains. The thyroid gland regulates metabolism. If it has switched to hypo-mode, then the metabolism will also slow down, which will eventually be felt as a complete lack of strength and energy, the physician noted. red blood cells (erythrocytes) or a decrease in the amount of a key oxygen-carrying protein (hemoglobin) below a certain value.

Non-specific signs of anemia include:

  • skin pallor,
  • weakness,
  • fatigue,
  • drowsiness,
  • dizziness,
  • fainting,
  • tinnitus,
  • flickering of “flies” before the eyes,
  • shortness of breath,
  • palpitations.

Hypothyroidism is a disease manifested by insufficient production of thyroid hormones. Sometimes a person does not notice symptoms for years that signal a weakening of thyroid function.

    Such symptoms include:

    • insomnia,
    • intermittent sleep,
    • sweating,
    • shortness of breath,
    • prolonged depression.

25-50 percent of patients with hypothyroidism suffer from anemia.

How to properly donate blood for analysis
According to Kuzmenko, a simple way to exclude the most likely pathologies is taking two tests. This is a clinical (general) blood test and a blood test for TSH.

CBC will show if there is anemia. Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) level – how the thyroid gland functions.

    – In the general blood test, we will be interested in 4 lines – hemoglobin (Hb), erythrocytes (Er), MCH, MCV, – the doctor explains. – If the values are lower (or sharply higher) than the reference ones (i.e., the norm), then this is a pathology. It is necessary to go to the doctor.
With the analysis of TSH, it is easier – he is the only one.

    – With hypothyroidism, the TSH will be sharply increased. If it is normal, then everything is in order with the thyroid gland, says Kuzmenko. remove hair in the intimate area.
