Vaccination after exposure reduces symptoms of post-COVID syndrome

Vaccination after exposure reduces symptoms of post-COVID syndrome
If you want to protect yourself from post-COVID syndrome, get vaccinated soon after contracting the coronavirus. This is evidenced by the data of a new study.

Significantly fewer patients with COVID-19 complained of lingering symptoms of infection after receiving vaccines. This conclusion was made by researchers from the University of Cambridge. This means that vaccinations can be one of the methods of preventing post-COVID syndrome, which millions of people face in different countries of the world.

The first shot of the vaccine after exposure was associated with a 13% reduction in the likelihood of developing post-COVID syndrome, and the second reduced the likelihood by another 9%. Over the course of 7 months in 2021, researchers regularly visited the homes of more than 28,000 people to see if they experienced post-COVID symptoms after being infected.

The current results of the study suggest that post-COVID vaccination may be one of the tools for the prevention and treatment of post-COVID syndrome. However, the study was observational, it did not show the presence of cause and effect. It is possible that vaccination does not prevent some cases of post-COVID syndrome, but reduces their severity.
