Urologist, oncourologist, candidate of medical sciences Nikita Stepanov noted that with age, libido gradually decreases in both women and men. Women may lose interest in sex due to hormonal changes associated with menopause, and men experience erectile dysfunction.

Erectile dysfunction is a recurring condition characterized by impaired erection quality.

br>Signs of erectile dysfunction:

  • periodic loss of erection in the midst of intercourse;
  • premature ejaculation;
  • lack of orgasm;
  • lack of ejaculation;
  • lack of erection despite arousal;
  • decreased libido;
  • inability to commit sexual intercourse with a partner.

– This does not mean that it is time to tie up with sex: many health problems can be solved or improved. (…) Modern medications can improve the situation in 60-70% of cases, – the physician wrote in his blog.

15-25% of men experience impotence by the age of 65. The task is complicated by associated problems with the prostate, diabetes mellitus, which destroys blood vessels, as well as atherosclerosis. These problems are completely solvable by contacting a doctor.

The urologist cites the results of a study in which it is noted that an active sex life increases the duration and quality of life. American scientists have found that in women after 57 years of age, sex normalizes blood pressure, improves the condition of the heart and blood vessels, and also has a positive effect on the emotional sphere.

In men, due to excessive physical stress, the risk of stroke and heart attack is slightly higher. They should exercise moderation and focus “not on orgasm, but on the pleasure of the process,” the expert says.

The doctor warns that one should not forget about the risk of sexually transmitted infections. Condoms are needed not only for contraception.
