Toxicologist Kutyshov: If you are cold, eat hot soup and warm your feet

девушка
Toxicologist, professor Mikhail Kutushov told how to support immunity in the cold season.

He noted that in cold, damp weather, hypothermia is the cause of most diseases.

The doctor urges to take care of yourself and not to leave the car or metro with open jackets, wear scarves, hats, gloves, and warm socks.

— Do you feel like you're freezing? First and foremost, get somewhere warm. And when you come home from the cold, drink hot tea or eat soup — they will warm you from the inside and prevent the cold from spreading throughout your body, — Kutyshov wrote in his blog.

If your feet are cold, you can warm them in hot water for 10-15 minutes (contraindicated for varicose veins).

Hypothermia can lead to various diseases.

Acute respiratory infections. Being cold can weaken the immune system, making the body more susceptible to the viruses and bacteria that cause colds and flu.

Being cold can contribute to the development of inflammation of the lungs (pneumonia), especially in people with weakened immune systems or chronic illnesses.

Cold air irritates the airways, leading to inflammation and the development of bronchitis.

Being cold can worsen the symptoms of chronic diseases such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Rheumatism and arthritis. Cold causes an exacerbation of pain in the joints and muscles, especially in people with rheumatic diseases.

Hypothermia can lead to vasoconstriction and poor circulation, which can cause numbness and tingling in the extremities.

Cold allergy is possible.
