Toxicologist Kutushov: your health can be at risk if you choose the wrong pan and pan

pans
Toxicologist Mikhail Kutushov said that the utensils that people use to cook food are as important as the food itself.

< i>Even the healthiest diet can lead to serious health problems if your pots and pans are toxic and dangerous. Teflon frying pan is the most toxic, — the expert wrote in his blog.

According to him, the manufacturer guarantees the safety of such cookware only if the coating is intact. That is, if you scratch with an iron spoon, tap on the edge with a fork, drop something heavy into the pan in the sink in the sink, then the integrity of the “Teflon film” will be broken, and the pan will begin to emit toxic fumes, leading to polymer fever, which is also called Teflon flu .

Experts note: if you inhale the vapors of superheated Teflon for 4-10 hours in a row, as happens, for example, when working in the kitchen in a large restaurant, polymer fever can develop. It is very similar to the flu. Victims of Teflon fumes complain of chills, high fever, headaches and aching muscles.

Another dangerous chemical compound in Teflon tableware is PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid), which contributes to the development of several types of oncology, including breast and prostate cancer, and ovaries. If technical standards are observed, then the content of PFOA is minimal and does not cause harm, wrote Kutushov.

What then to cook on?

  • Cast iron. Cast iron cookware is safe for cooking and will stand the test of time.
  • 100% ceramic coating
  • Other coatings labeled PFOA free

According to experts, aluminum has neurotoxic properties, that is, when poisoned, it causes disturbances in the functioning of the nervous system. It should not be used for cooking, but only to heat food in it. Copper pots and pans are dangerous because microparticles of copper get into food during cooking. In high concentrations, this can lead to poisoning.
