Tinnitus, memory problems, pressure surges: cardiologist Stepanov named the main reasons to do an ultrasound of the neck vessels

man
Cardiologist Maxim Stepanov said that an ultrasound examination of the vessels of the neck should be done if you have headaches, dizziness, tinnitus and memory problems.< br>
— The need for an ultrasound of the vessels of the neck is indicated by constant or regular headaches, especially in the neck and back of the head, the doctor noted.

If you feel dizzy, have ringing in your ears, or experience imbalance, this may indicate disturbances in the blood flow through the vessels of the brain. If you have problems with memory and concentration, you need to check the condition of the carotid artery.

In addition, high blood pressure and other cardiovascular problems may be associated with circulatory disorders.

Early detection of problems related to the circulatory system will prevent the development of serious complications, the doctor emphasized.

< b>He listed the problems that an ultrasound diagnostic specialist can identify:

  • Detect atherosclerotic plaque,
  • Identify the degree of narrowing of the vessel,
  • Determine the anatomical features manifested in the form of aneurysms or external compression (squeezing).
  • Show the presence of inflammation of the vessel wall.

The study helps assess the risk of a stroke in the future, Stepanov noted.

Previously, doctors explained what causes tinnitus (tinnitus):

  • Tinnitus can be the result of damage to the eardrum, inner ear, or auditory nerve (due to loud noise, injury, or aging).
  • Prolonged exposure to noise, such as working with powerful tools or being in a noisy environment.
  • Certain cardiovascular problems: high blood pressure or narrowed blood vessels.
  • Certain medications, including antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs medications and diuretics can cause tinnitus as a side effect.
  • Increased levels of stress and anxiety can increase the perception of tinnitus.
