The incidence in Moscow has declined
The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that the number of positive tests for COVID-19 is significantly decreasing in the capital region. And the second rise in the incidence is not at all inevitable, according to the head of the country's main sanitary department.

According to Anna Popova, the capital region is freed from the impact of the coronavirus, this is happening now because it was in Moscow that a new surge in the pandemic reached first. And given its undulating movement, the decline in incidence looks natural. Now the wave will pass through the rest of the Russian regions, after which a second rise in the incidence may occur.

However, Anna Popova stressed that with the right behavior in September, this second rise is not inevitable, at least in relation to COVID-19, and not other SARS like flu. She noticed that the incidence figures at their peak were almost exactly in line with the forecast that the experts had previously made. And the duration of this wave also amounted to the predicted 5 weeks, after which the pandemic reached a plateau.

Popova said that last week the incidence in Moscow fell by 16%, and in the Moscow region – by 19%. The most significant decline was noted in St. Petersburg, where it amounted to 26%. Moscow also saw an increase in hospitalizations and deaths, but not as much as during previous waves.
