Sunlight makes men hungrier

Sunlight makes men hungrier
Exposure to sunlight increases the sensation of hunger in men much more markedly than in women. Scientists from the University of Tel Aviv came to such an amazing conclusion.

The cost of various kinds of sandwiches, ice cream and soft drinks on the beach is much higher than in stores somewhere nearby. And now it turns out that it is men who most often have to pay for them, and not at all because they are gentlemen and do not allow their girlfriends to do this. Israeli researchers have found that under the influence of sunlight, the feeling of hunger in men grows more significantly than in women. This study is based on the food habits of about 3,000 Israelis during the summer.

Sunny weather increases the risk of suicide

Observations have shown that in men, sunlight activates a protein called p53, which signals the body to produce the appetite-stimulating hormone ghrelin. In women, the hormone estrogen blocks the action between p53 and ghrelin, so they are not affected by the sun. That is why the appetite grows in the representatives of the stronger sex. All this has been confirmed in laboratory models, so that another characteristic difference between men and women in the activation of the metabolic mechanism has been established.

Scientists have figured out how quickly sunlight destroys coronavirus

Study shows that sunlight triggers the production of p53 protein in order to repair DNA damage in the skin. But the appearance of this protein leads to a different action in the male and female body. In men, it also provokes hunger, but the female hormone estrogen does not. Therefore, it is the skin that is the main regulator of energy and appetite, both in laboratory animals and in humans.
