Study: Regular Aspirin Reduces Risk of Common Cancer. Not All Doctors Agree

American oncologists have published the results of a study on the effect of aspirin on the likelihood of colorectal tumors.

It is noted that regular use of aspirin in strictly defined doses can reduce the likelihood of developing cancer of the esophagus, rectum and colon.

Specialists reviewed medical data of more than 100,000 people. Some participants regularly took aspirin in strictly prescribed doses, while others took it occasionally.

— Regular use of aspirin was defined as taking 2 or more standard 325 mg tablets per week, — the study results say.

The participants were followed for 10 years, their average age was 49.4 years. During this time, the probability of colorectal cancer was 1.98% for those who regularly took aspirin, and 2.95% for those who did not regularly take it.

The difference became more pronounced when lifestyle was taken into account. The following factors were taken into account: smoking, alcohol consumption, physical activity, body weight and dietary habits.

It is necessary to remember the side effects of aspirin, such as the risk of internal bleeding, the material says.

It should be noted that there is another point of view on taking aspirin. For example, doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov has repeatedly warned about the deadly danger of anticoagulants, including aspirin.

Taking these drugs without a doctor's prescription and without necessity can lead to a stroke. They are prescribed only in cases where there is a confirmed threat of thrombosis.

— You must remember — any anticoagulants (…) can kill, — Myasnikov noted.
