Severe skin reactions: new side effects found for ibuprofen

The Ministry of Health appealed to the manufacturers of drugs with the active substance “Ibuprofen” to change the instructions. New side effects became known.

Possible adverse reactions included, among others, dermatitis and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. This is stated in the state register of medicines.

As the Ministry of Health noted, information about the risks of severe skin reactions should be added to the description of medications containing Ibuprofen. We are talking about exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis.

Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

This is a rare but serious complication that can occur as a result of certain types of medications or infections. It is characterized by severe damage to the skin and mucous membranes, resulting in blisters, ulcers and crusting. The syndrome may be accompanied by fever, soreness, general malaise and breathing problems. It requires immediate medical attention as it can be life-threatening.

It can be caused by a variety of reasons, including a reaction to medications, infections, autoimmune disorders, or cancer. Symptoms of exfoliative dermatitis may include redness, peeling, itching, swelling and blistering of the skin.

Generalized exanthematous pustulosis (GEP) is a rare inflammatory skin disease characterized by the formation of blisters (pustules) on the skin. skin. It can be caused by a variety of reasons, including immune system disorders, infections, or medications. Symptoms of GEP include blistering, redness, itching, and swelling of the skin.
