A Russian man came to see doctors with a huge tumor, which he persistently tried to overcome with self-medication.
Buryat doctors from the Republican Oncology Dispensary in Ulan-Ude shared the story of a patient who came to them with an unusually large formation on his neck. The man complained to doctors about a tumor that became huge during self-medication.
The specialists published a photo of a giant tumor on the hospital's social media page. They hope that this photo will encourage Russians to seek treatment from doctors in a timely manner, without engaging in self-medication.
“The result of self-medication is unpredictable. The photo shows a case from our practice: the patient's self-medication led to a sharp growth of the tumor,” representatives of the republican oncology dispensary reported in the caption accompanying the photo.
As MK in Buryatia writes, a Russian man who was treating his tumor on his own saw that it was starting to grow. But the man did not experience severe symptoms or pain, so he was slow to make an appointment with a doctor. He did so only when the growth of the formation on his neck accelerated sharply – having increased significantly in size, it began to interfere with his normal breathing.
Commenting on this case, doctors urged Russians to undergo medical examinations. Preventive examinations are the most effective way to detect existing tumors at early stages of development, when their treatment is most successful.
