Nutritionist, director of the ANO Scientific Center “Healthy Nutrition” Nuria Dianova said that she has repeatedly encountered cases in her practice when a person leading a generally healthy lifestyle fell ill with pancreatitis.
This may be a consequence of the uncontrolled use of dietary supplements with questionable components.
— Drug-induced pancreatitis has begun to appear when there are no reasons for it: the person does not drink, there is no gallstone disease. When you dig very deeply into the anamnesis, it turns out that a lot of dietary supplements in large quantities were bought from who knows where, — the specialist noted.
People have also increasingly begun to get drug-induced hepatitis and liver failure.
Before starting to use dietary supplements, you need to consult a doctor, Dianova emphasized.
During its monitoring, Roskachestvo found over 400 dietary supplements with prohibited substances on marketplaces. Among them are coca leaves and kava kava. Most of these products were sold in the categories “Food supplements”, “Sports nutrition”, “Fat burner” and others.
Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas. The enzymes secreted by the gland are not released into the duodenum, but are activated in the gland itself and begin to destroy it.
Symptoms of pancreatitis:
- Abdominal pain. Usually localized in the upper abdomen and can radiate to the back. The pain can be sharp or dull.
- Nausea and vomiting often accompany attacks of pancreatitis, especially in acute form.
- Due to pain and discomfort, a person may not want to eat.
- The stool may become greasy and light (steatorrhea) due to a lack of pancreatic enzymes.
- An increase in body temperature may indicate an inflammatory process.
- Increased heart rate in response to pain and stress.
- In some cases, jaundice may develop if the inflammation affects the bile ducts.
