Oncologist Cheremushkin on lung cancer: the appearance of blood is the first thing that should alert you

male
Oncologist, candidate of medical sciences Evgeny Cheremushkin explained why lung cancer ranks first in the structure of oncological diseases in terms of mortality – almost 17% of deaths.

— The largest percentage of cancer cases is associated with the first line of defense – the lungs. When you inhale, absorb oxygen, all chemical, viral, bacterial pathologies are deposited, the doctor noted.

According to him, the majority of the population, especially smokers, have chronic inflammatory processes in the lungs.

It is impossible to detect a small tumor in the lung on your own. But there are alarming signs.

— A large number of vulnerable vessels form around the tumor, so the appearance of blood is the first thing that should alert you,— the oncologist emphasized.

You also need to pay attention to weight loss, weakness, temperature — common symptoms of intoxication.

Smoking is associated with 85-90% of cases of lung cancer, one of the most lethal types of cancer, thoracic surgeon and oncologist Andrei Nefedov said earlier. The best way out is to quit smoking as soon as possible. A year after quitting smoking, the risk of developing lung cancer decreases by 6%, the doctor noted.

Let's recall the signs of lung cancer:

1. Persistent cough. A persistent cough, especially if it lasts more than two weeks, may be a sign of lung cancer. The cough may be dry or may produce mucus, sometimes with blood in it.

2. Difficulty breathing. Difficulty breathing, feeling short of breath, or breathing rapidly is associated with lung cancer, especially if these symptoms appear for no apparent reason.

3. Chest pain. Chest pain that gets worse with deep breathing, coughing, or moving your body is considered a sign of lung cancer.

4. Weight loss. Weight loss, especially if significant and without changes in lifestyle or diet, may be associated with lung cancer.

5. Fatigue and weakness. Constant fatigue, weakness, or general malaise are associated with lung cancer.

6. Increased susceptibility to infections. Lungs affected by cancer are more vulnerable to infections.
