Nutritionist Shah: Cabbage and radish reduce the risk of developing colon cancer

According to dietitian and nutritionist Toral Shah, seasonal budget products that contain many vitamins, microelements and fiber will help reduce the risk of developing bowel cancer.

The doctor told Express that it is necessary to include broccoli, radish, radish, turnip, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and other types of cabbage in your diet. They contain a large amount of plant dietary fiber that stimulates the digestion process. But more importantly, they serve as food for the beneficial bacteria that inhabit the intestines. Thus, a microbiota is formed that supports the body as a whole.

Cruciferous vegetables form active compounds such as indole and sulforaphane. They further reduce the risk of cancer due to their anti-inflammatory properties.

Previously, dietitian and nutritionist Dmitry Semiryadov spoke about products that help prevent cancer. He also advised adding broccoli to the diet due to its sulforaphane content. Sulforaphane reduces the size and number of breast cancer cells.

Carrots are useful, as they contain many useful substances, including beta-carotene, which is a powerful antioxidant.

There are several studies that show that regular consumption of carrots reduces the risk of developing stomach cancer by 26%. And by 18% – the risk of developing prostate cancer, – the specialist noted.

Other anti-cancer products include beans containing fiber, berries rich in anthocyanins. The list also includes nuts, fish, olive oil.
