According to the doctor of medical sciences, nutritionist Aleksey Kovalkov, you can lose up to ten kilograms in two to three weeks with the help of a diet. So there is every chance to fit into your favorite dress on New Year's Eve.

Starving or exhausting yourself with exercises is not at all necessary, the doctor said in an interview with Sputnik radio. It's about the ketogenic diet.

– To do this, you need to consume the maximum amount of fat and the minimum amount of carbohydrates. That is, we exclude sweet, flour, cereals, fruits. Instead, we eat meat with fatty sauces like mayonnaise. Such a diet, he noted.
The ketogenic diet, the keto diet, is a low-carb, high-fat, moderate-protein diet. Previously, it was used in the treatment of epilepsy in children – through an increase in the level of ketone bodies in the blood.

According to Kovalkov, the rejection of carbohydrates and the inclusion of fatty foods in the diet will achieve noticeable results in a short time.

– If you start eating like this two or three weeks before the holidays, you can get the result. It will be possible to lose five to ten kilograms by the New Year without any additional physical exertion, – Kovalkov promises.

You can’t stick to such a diet for a long time, he warned. It is designed for five to ten kilograms. In any case, consult your doctor before trying this method of losing weight.

The keto diet is not suitable if you have the following diseases and problems:

  • Fatty liver and cirrhosis
  • Gilbert's syndrome (this is also a liver problem)
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding.
  • Thyroid diseases.
  • Weight deficiency.
  • Hypotension, low blood pressure.
  • Cholelithiasis or absence of the gallbladder.
  • Heart problems (for example, a person after a heart attack).

Some doctors say that switching to a keto diet increases the risk of developing heart disease and affects brain function. Headaches, confusion and brain fog may begin. The reason is that the work of the brain is highly dependent on glucose.
