New wave in Russia predicted for autumn

A new wave in Russia was predicted for the fall
A new surge in the incidence of coronavirus in Russia may begin in the fall. This is because COVID-19 is becoming a seasonal disease.

The incidence of coronavirus in Russia has reached a plateau, and every day the numbers of hospitalizations, detected infections and even deaths remain approximately the same. So, on May 20, 2,081 hospitalizations were registered, just over 5,000 infections and 96 deaths. The day before, there were 97 deaths, 2,117 hospitalizations, and again about 5,000 new infections. At the same time, in some regions of Russia, the situation with the incidence is significantly improving. These include the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, the republics of Khakassia and Altai, as well as Mari El and Ingushetia.

According to epidemiologist Natalya Pshenichnaya, the coronavirus infection is more and more like a seasonal disease, so its next outbreak may begin in the fall. True, this will happen only if some new highly contagious mutation of the coronavirus does not appear now. Autumn is traditionally marked by the rise of other similar acute respiratory viral infections, including influenza.

In some countries of the world where the volume of testing has not been significantly reduced, a record surge in the incidence is again recorded. Worst of all, the situation is now in the DPRK, where the number of cases has already exceeded 2 million in a very short time. The infection rate in this closed country is growing rapidly, as very few people are vaccinated here, and the number of drugs for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus is not enough. Outbreaks continue in the United States and some European countries.
