Narcologist Isaev dispelled the myth about the benefits of a daily glass of red wine

Psychiatrist and narcologist Ruslan Isaev said that there are no safe doses of alcohol. The benefits of the antioxidant properties of red wine are greatly exaggerated.

There is a widespread belief that it is very beneficial to drink one glass of red wine once a day. According to Isaev, this is said either by those who want to justify their addiction, or by producers.

— Red wine producers claim that it has antioxidant properties, slows down aging, and prevents cancer. This happens thanks to polyphenols, — the narcologist noted.

According to him, if we are talking about ideal laboratory conditions, then this statement is true. Antioxidants, interacting with the body's microflora, actually improve the microbiome.

However, the human body cannot be compared with laboratory conditions.

— It has been proven that the safest dose of alcohol is its absence, — Isaev emphasized.

In real conditions, the “benefits” of wine are leveled. Antioxidants are very volatile, and in 90% of cases they disappear after the drink has aged. The second point is that the antioxidant properties of wine bring much less benefit than the harm caused by ethanol.

According to Russian narcologists, in order to identify alcoholism or a predisposition to it, you need to answer three questions.

“Have my loved ones asked me to quit drinking?”
“Have I ever felt ashamed of my actions while intoxicated?”
“Have I ever had the desire to have a hangover cure in the morning?”

If the answer to all three questions is positive, then it is highly likely that the person has problems with alcohol.

Symptoms of alcoholism:

  • lack of control over the amount of alcohol consumed, inability to stop;
  • memory lapses;
  • hangover syndrome;
  • binge periods;
  • appearance of external signs: rapid aging of the skin, bulging veins, ruptured skin capillaries.
