Most often, coronavirus is combined with hypertension

Covid-19 is most often associated with hypertension
Researchers from Delhi, in monitoring more than 3,500 patients, found that hypertension is the most common comorbidity in those who carry coronavirus. And this underlines the importance of getting vaccinated and taking precautions for hypertensive patients.

Physicians at public hospitals in Delhi conducted a study in order to determine the epidemiological characteristics of the pandemic. They described the health status of a group of patients with COVID-19 and found that their underlying illness was most often aggravated by hypertension. The first outbreak of the pandemic in Delhi was registered in March 2020

In total, 3,534 patients aged 9 to 96 participated in the study. Among the most common symptoms of coronavirus were fever and cough, 5.6% were asymptomatic, as observations showed. This was an observational study based on case histories of patients who tested positive for coronavirus by PCR.

It was found that in 37% of cases, coronavirus was aggravated by hypertension. More than 50% of patients suffered covid in the conditions of self-isolation at home, 11% subsequently died. The highest mortality was observed in the elderly, it usually occurred on the 9-11th day from the moment of hospitalization. (READ MORE)
