— A drinking diet is an extreme way to lose weight, — the doctor warned.

A drinking diet can be safe for health if a person chooses it as a fasting diet, for example, once or twice a week. And even in this case, it is necessary to consult a doctor.

Using this type of diet for several weeks or even months is serious stress for the body.

The doctor reminds that the process of chewing food is an important stage of healthy digestion. The multi-stage process of digesting food cannot be replaced by anything, and it begins in the mouth.

When a person chews, a signal is sent to his brain to produce saliva and digestive juices containing enzymes for digesting food.

This type of diet also quickly causes hunger, because liquid leaves the stomach faster than solid food.

The drinking diet is contraindicated for people with chronic diseases, especially for those who suffer from carbohydrate metabolism disorders and gastrointestinal problems. It will not cure obesity.

There are several simple but effective recommendations for losing weight:

  • Eat more vegetables, fruits, whole grains and lean protein. Limit your intake of sugar, saturated fats and processed foods.
  • Pay attention to portion sizes and try not to overeat. Use smaller plates to visually reduce the amount of food.
  • Include physical activity in your life, such as walking, running, swimming or playing sports. At least 150 minutes of moderate activity per week is recommended.
  • Drink enough water. Sometimes thirst can be perceived as hunger.
  • Get enough sleep and try to manage stress levels, as they can affect appetite and metabolism.
  • Set realistic goals and make lifestyle changes gradually so that they are sustainable.
