Expectant mothers who take probiotics during pregnancy face an increased risk of preeclampsia. This conclusion was made by scientists from the University of Queensland in Australia.

Expectant mothers who take probiotic supplements greatly increase their risk of developing dangerous preeclampsia. The researchers note that many so-called “mom bloggers” advertise probiotic pills as some kind of “magic remedy” for pregnant women. However, they do not have the slightest evidence that would confirm the benefits of probiotics. But a review of international studies on the intake of probiotics by pregnant women showed that they increase the risk of preeclampsia by half.

Probiotics are dangerous for the stomach and brain of healthy people

The review covered hundreds of moms-to-be and showed an association between high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia with probiotic supplementation. The discovery came as a surprise because it showed that drugs that are considered safe need to be more closely scrutinized when used by pregnant women.

Probiotics will protect women from postpartum depression
