sugar
Type 2 diabetes is becoming epidemic, doctors say. This disease may not manifest itself for a long time, however, a constantly elevated blood sugar level has a devastating effect on the entire body, and vessels, especially the smallest ones, suffer first of all.

Is it possible to determine second diabetes type (non-insulin-dependent, as opposed to type 1 diabetes) according to external signs? Pavel Sorokin, an endocrinologist, told MedicForum about this.

– There are no specific external signs by which it can be said for sure that a person has type 2 diabetes mellitus. A large-scale study was conducted with the participation of more than 25 thousand people, which showed that almost one in two did not know that he had problems with blood sugar levels. There are no external signs that unite these people. Another thing is that indirect signs are possible. For example, if we are talking about appearance, diabetics very often have skin problems – they do not heal any damage to the epidermis, – the doctor noted.
Can a person suspect carbohydrate metabolism disorders by appearance? Yes, you can.

Overweight and obesity. This is clearly both a risk of developing diabetes and a sign of illness.

Problems with nails. People with elevated blood sugar levels have a predisposition to fungal diseases that are immediately visible.

Persistent itching. It occurs due to problems with blood vessels.
