HRT will help women stop snoring
Hormone replacement therapy may help women stop snoring in their sleep. Difficulty breathing during a night's rest may be due to low levels of estrogen or progesterone.

Researchers from the Norwegian University of Bergen found that women undergoing hormone replacement therapy after the onset of menopause can benefit from this treatment – snoring is not expected. Approximately 5% of postmenopausal women suffer from obstructive sleep apnea. This disorder causes the soft tissues of the throat to collapse, causing them to block airflow for a short time and produce characteristic wheezing sounds. At the same time, the person himself wakes up unconsciously for himself and falls asleep up to 40 times a night.

And now a new study has suggested that sleep apnea is significantly more common in post-menopausal women, as they have lower levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. Therefore, HRT medications can help them get rid of sleep apnea and snoring. The researchers drew their conclusions by observing 774 women who answered questions about the quality of sleep and the presence of apnea. To qualify for study participants, all participants must have snored and had other breathing problems in the form of other unpleasant sounds for at least 12 months.

Women had blood tests that showed the effectiveness of hormone replacement therapy. It turned out that with an increase in the level of the corresponding hormones, the likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea decreased by 19%. (READ MORE) University of Bergen
