Early-stage ovarian cancer can be similar in symptoms to fatigue syndrome or stress. This was reported by obstetrician-gynecologist, PhD Olga Ulankina.
— The disease gains momentum almost imperceptibly: general weakness may appear, appetite disappears, the woman loses weight. These symptoms can be attributed to normal fatigue or seasonal blues, she noted.
Other symptoms appear as the tumor grows: bloating and nagging pain, like during critical days.
Ovarian cancer is usually diagnosed in women over 60. Those at increased risk include obese women, smokers, and those who have been taking hormones for a long time. In 10% of cases, ovarian cancer is hereditary.
Classic symptoms of possible ovarian cancer:
- Constant or intermittent pain in the lower abdomen.
- Irregular menstruation or changes in menstruation patterns.
- Feeling of bloating or an increase in abdominal volume.
- Digestive difficulties such as nausea, loss of appetite, or feeling full after eating a small amount of food.
- Increased frequency of urination.
Prevention:
- Regular check-ups, especially for women at high risk.
- Proper nutrition and physical activity can help reduce the risk.
