Gastroenterologist Tatyana Zharovskaya told how to lower cholesterol without medication. First of all, she advises eating more vegetables and greens.

Every day you need to eat 400 grams of fresh vegetables and greens, but no more than 150-200 grams of berries and fruits. They contain soluble dietary fiber that binds excess fatty acids.

Add polyunsaturated fatty acids and foods rich in B vitamins to your menu: vegetable oils, fatty fish, legumes.

Foods with saturated fats – eggs, pork – should be minimized. You can eat one egg per day, and red meat is allowed twice a week. You can eat poultry and fish every day, but without the skin.

– Whole grain products, whole grain or rye bread help reduce cholesterol. These can be not too sweet fruits and berries: sweet and sour apples, feijoa, some citrus fruits, blueberries, cranberries, lingonberries, blackberries, – the specialist noted.

Let's recall the signs of high cholesterol in the blood:

Chest pain. May occur due to narrowing of the arteries, which leads to insufficient blood supply to the heart.

Shortness of breath may occur during physical exertion or at rest due to cardiovascular problems.

A constant feeling of fatigue associated with circulatory problems.

Memory problems. High cholesterol can affect cognitive function.

The presence of yellowish spots on the skin (xanthelasma) or around the eyes.

High blood pressure is often associated with high cholesterol.
