stomach
Sleep apnea syndrome is one of the factors in the development of stomach ulcers, doctor and TV presenter Alexander Myasnikov said in his blog.

The doctor reminded that about 1% of the population, that is, millions of people, suffer from gastric ulcer.

Causes of the disease:

  • Helicobacter pylori
  • Taking aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (painkillers)

Risk factors other than apnea:

  • Genetic predisposition
  • Smoking
  • Stress
  • Alcohol
  • Covid

— Low doses of aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) can cause ulcers within 7 days of starting to take aspirin or NSAIDs, — the doctor emphasized.

Signs of a stomach ulcer:

  • Abdominal pain. It can be dull, burning, or stabbing and usually occurs in the upper abdomen.
  • Heartburn. A burning sensation in the chest or throat that occurs due to acid reflux from the stomach into the esophagus.
  • Some people may experience bouts of nausea, sometimes with vomiting, which may contain blood or be coffee-colored.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Weight loss.
  • Dark stool.
