Doctors from Lyubertsy helped a Russian woman give birth to her first child at age 51

A 51-year-old woman named Natalya became a mother for the first time in the Lyubertsy maternity hospital No. 1 of the Moscow Regional Center for Maternal and Child Health (MRCMH).

The Russian woman, whom doctors from Lyubertsy helped give birth to her first child at the age of 51, said that she had to work towards her dream of becoming a mother for almost thirty years. The head doctor of the Moscow Regional Center of Child Health, Tatyana Melnik, commented on the extraordinary case:

“This is the first case in the history of the Lyubertsy Maternity Hospital, when a woman at such a mature age was able to carry and give birth to a child, however, in our practice there are cases of the birth of absolutely healthy babies by women under 48 years old.”
The press service of the medical institution reported that the expectant mother was admitted to the maternity hospital in the 39th week of pregnancy. She underwent a planned cesarean section. A completely healthy boy was born, who was named Alexander. The baby's data at birth: height – 51 centimeters, weight – 3100 grams.

Doctors informed that now the mother and son are preparing to be discharged home and meet the happy father. According to Natalia, she would like to inspire all women struggling with infertility with her example.
