Doctor Sukhorukova: strawberries lift your spirits and help you lose weight

Strawberries are always associated with summer and the sun and can lift your spirits. It is a natural antidepressant, said gastroenterologist Lyudmila Sukhorukova.

— Strawberries (…) normalize metabolism, protect the cardiovascular system, are good for gums, protect against headaches, because contains substances similar to the composition of aspirin. Improves digestion and promotes weight loss, the doctor noted.

Strawberries contain iodine – this important trace element is involved in the functioning of the thyroid gland. Magnesium and potassium in the berry help the functioning of the cardiovascular system.

— Strawberries also slow down the aging process. Thanks to antioxidants, the destructive effect of active oxygen on the body's cells is reduced, said Liliya Kirilina, Deputy Chief Physician of the Public Health Center.

She also noted that strawberries can be used as antidepressants – they increase the production of serotonin and dopamine.

Benefits of strawberries:

1. Rich source of antioxidants. Strawberries contain many antioxidants, such as vitamin C and anthocyanins, which help protect the body from free radicals and reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease and cancer.
