Endocrinologist Zukhra Pavlova spoke about a study by Canadian scientists who found that the voice of people with type 2 diabetes changes. Several hundred people took part in the experiment, more than a third were diabetics.

Volunteers, at the request of researchers, recorded the phrase: “Hello, how are you? What is my current sugar level?” on a voice recorder for two weeks.

Then artificial intelligence analyzed the recordings according to 14 parameters.

It turned out that healthy people and those suffering from type 2 diabetes had noticeably different volume, pitch and trembling of the voice. The accuracy of identifying diabetics using recordings was 86% for men and 89% for women.

How to recognize type 2 diabetes by voice?

In men, the volume of the voice changes, it trembles more.
In women, the pitch of the voice changes.
In general, diabetics often have a hoarse voice.

— It is assumed that with a high concentration of glucose in the blood, muscle fibers are damaged, including the vocal cords. And if there is a concomitant disease, for example, anxiety disorder or depression, then the voice can change even more, — the doctor wrote in her blog.

Let's recall the symptoms of type 2 diabetes:

1. Frequent urination, especially at night.
2. Constant thirst.
3. Fatigue and weakness. Impaired processing of sugar in the body can lead to poor energy and cause feelings of fatigue and weakness.
4. Increased appetite, constant feeling of hunger.
5. Slow wound healing
6. Uncontrolled diabetes can cause vision problems, such as blurred or decreased visual acuity.

The causes of type 2 diabetes are:

  • Obesity.
  • Lack of physical activity.
  • Poor nutrition.
  • Endocrinological pathologies.
  • Infectious diseases.
  • Heredity.
  • Stress.
