According to the nutritionist-consultant, deputy director of the Scientific Research Center “Healthy Nutrition” Alexey Kabanov, matcha tea is very useful, but you can't drink it too often.

— Unlike coffee, this tea contains a lot of vitamins and fiber, which is important for the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. It provides antioxidant protection and helps normalize digestion, the specialist noted.

Matcha contains:

  • Proteins,
  • fiber,
  • minerals (iron, calcium),
  • vitamins A, C,
  • Chlorophyll.

At the same time, it is very important not to abuse this drink, Kabanov emphasized.

— If you start drinking it too often, it will do more harm. You shouldn’t start every day with such a concentrated drink, — the expert said.

He advises drinking tea no more than once or twice a week.

Matcha is a powder made from crushed green tea leaves that is used in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. It differs from regular green tea in that whole leaves are used in its preparation, which allows it to retain more nutrients and antioxidants.

The leaves are grown in the shade for several weeks before harvesting, which increases the chlorophyll and amino acid content. Once harvested, they are dried and ground into a fine powder.

Matcha is usually mixed with hot water and whipped until it forms a foam. It can be added to various dishes and drinks, such as smoothies, desserts and even baked goods.

This tea has a characteristic herbaceous and slightly sweet taste, which can vary depending on the quality of the powder.
