Covid-19 vaccine based on microRNA is being made in Russia

A microRNA-based vaccine against covid is made in Russia
Experts from the Gamaleya Center have begun to create a microRNA-based vaccine against coronavirus infection. This technology is used as part of the most popular prophylactic drug against COVID-19, created by the pharmaceutical giant Pfizer.

Deputy Head of the Gamaleya Center Denis Logunov emphasized that the miroRNA technology has one significant advantage – the vaccine can be practically administered everyday. But vector vaccines, which include Sputnik V, should not be used earlier than once every six months, since they cause the formation of protective antibodies, and their level should gradually decrease. For this, those same 6 months are required, which is the ideally calculated time between injections.

The technology of vaccines against COVID-19 will be tried against HIV

MicroRNA technologies are used in vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, they, according to Logunov, provide immunity after three or four vaccinations. The Russian drug will use a composition of lipids, which is a classic, but it will not be the same as in Western vaccines, changes in the genetic structure of microRNA are expected.

Covid Protein Vaccines Seem Promising

Science experiments have shown that this platform delivers fairly fast expression. A transferase tester has already been created, which made it possible to calculate this rate. Peak expression levels are reached as early as 30 minutes after injection. (READ MORE) Denis Logunov Denis Logunov Medicine Deputy Head of the Gamaleya Center
