Oncologist-mammologist Danail Nazliev listed the products that contain estrogens. They are best avoided in hormone-dependent cancers.
Phytoestrogens are found in many foods, so the level of the hormone can be regulated through nutrition.
– Estrogens are one of the types of hormones that contained in many foods, and they can increase the risk of cancer growth or recurrence, Nazliev noted in his blog.
- Beer. This drink is made from grains, some of which contain phytoestrogens. They may increase the risk of breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men.
- Bread.
- Other grain-based foods such as cereals, macrons. The doctor recommends choosing gluten-free products.
- Soy products (tofu, soy milk). They are also high in estrogens.
- Peanuts
- Flaxseeds
- Legumes
- Algae
- Some fruits and vegetables (carrots, red grapes, eggplant, tomatoes, pumpkin, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts)
Some phytoestrogens, on the contrary, may have a protective effect. But not with hormone-dependent, the expert emphasizes.
Phytoestrogens are non-steroidal plant hormones, the structure of which is similar to human hormones.
Symptoms of estrogen dominance in women:
- chronic fatigue;
- migraine;
- brittle bones;
- cold hands and feet;
- menstrual irregularities;
- breast tenderness;
- abundant painful periods;
- pressure instability.
