Attack on the gene will slow down the growth of cancer
Scientists have made a breakthrough in the fight against incurable tumors. They have developed a drug that can block the gene that causes the growth of malignant neoplasms.

Spanish researchers have created an experimental drug that blocks the gene responsible for the growth of many tumors. Codenamed OMO-103, the treatment works by suppressing the MYC gene, which tells cells to start dividing. It is uncontrolled cell division that leads to the development of malignant neoplasms. The study involved 11 patients with various forms of almost non-treatable tumors.

It became known how a heart attack differs from a panic attack

An experimental drug was able to stop the growth of tumors in 8 patients. Of these, two had pancreatic cancer with a 97% mortality rate, three had a colon tumor, one had non-small cell lung cancer, one had a sarcoma, and one had cancer of the salivary gland. Experts have been trying for years to develop drugs that directly block MYC, which in 70% of tumors causes an excessive increase in the rate of cell division.

Heart attack or panic attack: how to tell the difference?

Normal cells only produce protein when it's time to reproduce. However, cancer cells continuously release it in large quantities, which ensures uncontrolled growth. And now there is hope for the creation of effective treatments for breast, prostate, lung and ovarian cancer. (READ MORE)
