Young patient beat 'incurable' stage 4 cancer with exercise. Nobody believed in his success.

Luke Grenfell-Shaw, who was diagnosed with “terminal” cancer, successfully coped with the disease and now, according to him, feels “better than ever.” He was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 sarcoma that spread to the lungs in 2018. Luke was 24 at the time.

Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that occurs in the bones and connective tissues.

Luke believes exercise “killed” his cancer, a target that once it seemed “virtually impossible.”

– I was sure that I would die by Christmas. Being alive five years later is beyond my dreams. I am as healthy as ever, – the man told Express.

After receiving the feared diagnosis, Luke was given a combination of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery. It was very hard to bear. But, despite his weakness, the patient was determined not to give up and gradually engaged in feasible exercises. According to him, the doctor caught him in the hospital room “cycling”.

– At first he was concerned, but after doing research, he concluded that it probably improved my response to chemotherapy and helped me deal with side effects better, – said Luke.

– I strongly believe that walking for 20-30 minutes a day during cancer treatment (when I was in the hospital) and gentle exercise for at least 30 minutes a day after treatment ( outside the hospital) saved my life, claims the man.

A study published in Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases shows that even small amounts of exercise can be effective.

Exercise can help your cores better drugs
Professor Rob Newton, a participant in the study, said: “We strongly recommend that patients with prostate cancer, and probably any type of cancer, exercise every day to maintain a chemical environment in the body that inhibits the proliferation of cancer cells.”
