Nutritionist Polina Zhuravleva: you can eat stress away with foods that contain substances that are natural antidepressants.

Nutritionist Zhuravleva stated that, contrary to popular belief, it is possible to eat away stress, but it must be done wisely. Many people begin to eat away their worries with unhealthy and high-calorie foods such as sweets, chips and fast food, which is a mistake that is unsafe for health. Food that is too fatty and sweet during times of stress contributes to metabolic disorders, the development of obesity, diabetes and vascular pathologies. At the same time, choosing the right foods effectively reduces stress levels and helps to normalize your psycho-emotional state, the nutritionist told the Public News Service.

“It is possible to eat away stress. At the same time, it is important to properly nourish the brain, which is subject to the greatest attacks,” noted Polina Zhuravleva.
The specialist named products for successfully neutralizing stress and anxiety.

  • Fatty fish: it is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can reduce the release of cortisol, the stress hormone;
  • Nuts (especially walnuts) and seeds: are also a source of fats that are good for the brain;
  • Whole grain products: are rich in B vitamins, which normalize the functioning of the central nervous system;
  • Dark chocolate: contains many antioxidants that promote the production of endorphins, the “hormones of joy”;
  • Berries: the substances present in them act as natural antidepressants;
  • Green leafy vegetables: like berries, are rich in antioxidants that fight inflammation that is activated by stress.

“It is better to limit the consumption of coffee and sugar during stress,” the nutritionist added.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about what dangerous disorders in the state of blood vessels and the heart can occur due to lack of sleep.
