Research shows that skipping breakfast more than triples the risk of problems like anxiety, low self-esteem and low mood in young people. Spanish scientists surveyed the parents of 3,700 children and adolescents aged 4 to 14 to determine how a particular diet affects their mental health.

Skipping breakfast can cause mental health problems as children miss out on critical nutrients in the morning. And during the day this deficit is not replenished. At the same time, getting breakfast on the way to school from a cafe or restaurant increases the risk of developing behavioral problems, compared with the usual homemade morning meal.
