In an interview with nutritionist Elena Solomatina, a warning was sounded that not every porridge is good for breakfast.

“Not all porridges are good, especially in the morning. Many people do not need to eat them at all, or eat them extremely rarely, ”the doctor said.

Solomatina called semolina porridge unsuitable for breakfast. Also, the nutritionist advises not to eat rice porridge made from white polished rice in the morning or on an empty stomach.

These cereals, the specialist noted, contain high doses of starch – thus, they are distinguished by a high GI, glycemic index, which shows how quickly blood sugar increases after the product is eaten. After cereals with a high GI, there will be a sharp jump in its increase – especially if they are eaten on an empty stomach as the first meal of the day. After a spike in blood sugar, there will be an equally rapid decline, and such “swings” are very harmful, they exhaust the pancreas, contribute to the problem of elevated insulin levels and the development of insulin resistance.

In addition, a sharp drop in sugar and energy provoke an increased feeling of hunger, so that soon after cereals that are not suitable for breakfast, a person will want to eat again, and strongly, and will also begin to experience a state of fatigue, exhaustion.

“Those who already have some kind of disease associated with poor utilization of sugar, they may develop anxiety, irritability, headaches, and feel unwell,” shared Elena Solomatina.
