Doctor Galina Volkova: with some diseases, you should avoid eating tomatoes.

Doctor Volkova explained in a commentary for RIA Novosti that people with gout should not eat tomatoes. This contraindication is due to the ability of these vegetables to delay the removal of uric acid from the body.

“Tomatoes delay the excretion of uric acid. And gout is a disease associated with excessive accumulation of uric acid in the body. It leads to the formation of uric acid crystals in the joints and kidneys,” warned Galina Volkova.
Also, the doctor added, people with gastrointestinal diseases (especially in the acute stage) should not eat tomatoes. Tomatoes contain citric and malic acids, which, when they enter an unhealthy stomach, provoke heartburn and pain. In addition, they activate the motility of the gastrointestinal tract, which can intensify pathological processes in it and aggravate a person's poor health, contributing to a more intense manifestation of negative symptoms.

Previously, nutritionist Anastasia Dubitskaya said that tomatoes can have a particularly negative effect on the body of older people, for whom their consumption significantly impairs the absorption of nutrients by the digestive tract. Frequent consumption of these vegetables can result in the development of irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, colic, chronic fatigue syndrome, and arthritis.

Previously, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that improperly selected and prepared eggplants can cause poisoning.
