“Shouldn't Raise Sugar Levels”: Doctor Solomatina Recommends Breakfast Options for People 40+

Nutritionist Elena Solomatina: it is important for people aged 40+ to ensure that the foods they eat for breakfast do not increase their blood sugar levels.

Doctor Solomatina advised adult Russians to carefully monitor the composition of their breakfasts.

“Breakfast should be such that you get the maximum amount of nutrients. It should definitely contain proteins so that you don't feel hungry for longer, as well as fiber and polyunsaturated fatty acids,” she noted in an interview with Vechernyaya Moskva.
Emphasizing that the first meal should not increase sugar levels, the nutritionist recommended excluding instant porridge, cereal, white bread, pancakes, fritters, and fried sweet cheesecakes from it.

Elena Solomatina also recommended the best breakfast options for people 40+

  • scrambled eggs and low-fat cheese;
  • omelette with mushrooms or vegetables;
  • not too fatty cottage cheese;
  • whole grain porridge;
  • sandwich: whole grain bread with a piece of fish, chicken or turkey plus vegetables.

The doctor added that breakfasts that were eaten at 20-30 years old without causing excess weight can already provoke excess fat deposition at 40 years old. This is due to the natural age-related slowdown of metabolic processes, hormonal changes and the body's greater susceptibility to diseases that affect the appearance of excess fat.

“In youth, the body compensates for unhealthy meals faster. People over 40 should definitely give preference to protein, which is easier to digest,” the nutritionist recommended.
What is also important is that the same breakfast should not be repeated day after day.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about why dairy products should definitely be present in the diet if there is no allergy to them.
