Nutritionist Maria Mirkiskina: jam gives the body vitamins, microelements, fiber.

Doctor Mirkiskina said that jam made from fruits with peel can be an excellent source of vitamins and microelements, as well as fiber, which improves the state of the intestinal microflora and its functioning.

“Jam is rich in vitamins B, A and E, as well as various microelements such as potassium, copper and iron. Unlike vitamin C, they are not destroyed as much during heat treatment and are preserved in greater quantities,” she noted in an interview with Moscow 24.
Doctor Mirkiskina also spoke about the benefits of different types of jam.

  • Raspberry – contains salicylic acid, which improves a person's well-being during colds;
  • Cherry and sweet cherry – contains a lot of iron, which prevents the development of anemia;
  • Apricot – rich in potassium, which has a beneficial effect on the heart;
  • Lingonberry – contains a lot of pectin, known as a natural absorbent that binds and removes harmful substances.

Which jam is the healthiest? According to the doctor, the delicacy should be prepared in such a way that it is not boiled for a long time – otherwise it will lose its valuable substances for health. Another option is to prepare the so-called five-minute jam.

“It is best to prepare “cold” jam, that is, simply grind the berries or fruits together with sugar and then store in the refrigerator. Or freeze it in the freezer,” the specialist advised.
Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that frequent consumption of jam can lead to addiction to sweets.
