Neurologist Vladimir Martynov listed a number of positive effects on the brain associated with drinking coffee.

Doctor Martynov noted that coffee brings a variety of benefits to the brain – in particular, it improves the quality of short-term memory, which suffers in Alzheimer's disease, as well as concentration and attention.

“Among the positive effects of coffee on the brain, one can name the improvement of short-term memory, this has been proven by many studies, as well as an increase in concentration and attention, since caffeine stimulates the central nervous system,” Martynov said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
The neurologist noted that caffeine is also useful for the psycho-emotional state: it improves mood and reduces the risk of depression, increasing the concentration of dopamine and serotonin in the body. The effect of coffee is determined by the presence of antioxidants – thanks to their positive effect on the brain, it becomes better protected from age-related damage

Doctor Martynov explained how much coffee you need to drink to benefit your brain.

“A person can consume 300-400 milligrams of caffeine per day without harm to health, this is approximately 3-4 cups of coffee of 200 milliliters. However, the amount of caffeine varies in different coffees.”
According to Martynov, a truly safe dose of coffee can be considered 1-2 cups per day.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote that nutritionist Mikhail Ginzburg named vitamins that have a proven beneficial effect when taken after 50 years.
