Doctor of Medical Sciences Elena Malysheva warns that eating fresh vegetables and herbs from her garden can cause an unexpected blow to the health of the joints, provoke an attack of gout.
Professor Malysheva said that by eating fresh food from the garden, people risk harming their joints, without expecting it at all, because such products are considered to be useful and healthy food.

“There are plants that are often grown on home gardens – they can adversely affect the health of the joints. For example, green vegetables – leeks, spinach and rhubarb are not friendly with joints,” the TV presenter and doctor said. With an excess of oxalates in the diet, even pseudogout can occur, the physician stated.

Additionally, Professor Malysheva informed about the property of oxalates to accumulate in the kidneys – in this case, the risk of getting urolithiasis increases dramatically. The doctor of medicine advised drinking more water when eating products with oxalates – the liquid helps to eliminate them

“In addition to green vegetables, people with sore joints should limit the use of products containing purine,” the expert added.
