Cardiologist Ilkin Gasanov told what foods should be included in the daily diet of people with hypertension.

Doctor Gasanov reminded in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru that hypertension (hypertension) is a vascular pathology, the key symptom of which is high blood pressure. The cardiologist emphasized that it is important for a person who becomes hypertensive to keep their condition under control, preventing pressure surges, which have an extremely negative effect on the heart and brain, increasing the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Such control, among other things, implies a certain nutritional system, which gives preference to certain products, and also observes certain restrictions.

Named the most useful food for hypertensive patients, doctor Gasanov noted that their diet should include products with potassium, magnesium and iodine, as well as omega-3.

“The basic principles of a diet for people with hypertension are as follows: it should be rich in omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, microelements (potassium, magnesium, iodine), vitamins, and vegetable oils. At the same time, the consumption of table salt, animal fats, and easily digestible carbohydrates is significantly limited,” the expert formulated.
Gasanov specified that hypertensive patients should strive to consume (per day) less than 5 grams of salt, so food should be prepared without adding it. The products on the plate should be mainly boiled or baked.

What specific products are welcome in the diet of hypertensive patients. Fish and seafood, vegetables (in particular broccoli and garlic), greens, avocado, olive oil, poultry.

What restrictions must be observed. You should avoid eating fatty meat and offal, as well as spicy food and pickles, alcoholic beverages. Saturated fats should be strictly controlled, it is better to eat vegetarian soups.

What is useful to know. According to Gasanov, the best type of diet for hypertension is the Mediterranean diet. However, even the most careful adherence to it does not replace the antihypertensive therapy prescribed to the patient. If the attending physician prescribed medications, they should be taken in accordance with the recommended regimen without any self-adjustments.

Earlier, the MedikForum.ru portal wrote about what happens to the body if a person stops taking the statins prescribed to him.
