Causes of discomfort and stomach pain after eating apricots:

  • Eating too much fruit, which burdens the gastrointestinal tract with excess fiber;
  • Eating fruit on an empty (hungry) stomach;
  • Eating fruit with existing irritable bowel syndrome.

Korobkina added that fruit in general should not be eaten in large portions or on an empty stomach. The combination of fruit acids and fiber has a negative effect on the digestive system if they enter the body in excess. The need to digest such a mass can provoke various unfavorable consequences, including heaviness, bloating, increased gas formation, pain.

As for apricots, they contain specific carbohydrates that are not easily absorbed even by healthy digestion.
 
“Apricots are rich in FOODMAP compounds — short-chain carbohydrates that are poorly absorbed in the intestines. In people with irritable bowel syndrome, this can cause an exacerbation, manifesting itself in the form of bowel disorder, spasms and pain,” the nutritionist warned in a comment to “Championship”.
